These amazing women had dedicated the last 8 weeks to working their butts off, sweating it out, getting fitter, and melting the fat and inches off their bodies. It's bitter sweet knowing that the program has come to an end for the summer, but I am so thrilled to recap the program, announce the winners and results, and share some behind-the-scenes pictures with you all!
The hill at St. Pietersburg pushed us to the max as we did multiple rounds of 20-second hill sprints with just 100 seconds rest. I challenge any of you reading this to try just 3 rounds, that is 60 seconds of work by the way, with ALL OUT EFFORT - it's a butt-kicking workout indeed! And then there were the stairs - all glorious 50 steps to the top that we climbed, hopped, and ran up for time. It left the women breathless, super sweaty, but with a fabulous rush of adrenaline as they competed with themselves and one another. At our second location at Waldeck Park we mastered burpees, jack knife ab crunches, partner challenges, and of course the 1000 lunge walk-around. This drill had the ladies performing walking lunges all around the park with the only stops being at benches where they would have to do bench jumps and pushups before carrying on. All I can say is those legs and buns were thanking me in the end (definitely not in the 3 days following the workouts though :S ). All-in-all the women impressed me every week as they found the courage within themselves to keep going and crush their previous workouts!
Throughout the program our private Facebook page was extremely active as we posted Motivation Monday quotes, Q&A Tuesdays with many nutrition and fitness related questions asked and answered, Recipe Wednesdays as we posted some of our favorite healthy meal ideas, and finished the week off by highlighting the Fit Femme of the Week. Our page was a great source of inspiration and motivation, especially as many of the women have busy lives and sometimes keeping on track becomes extremely difficult. This sisterhood was one that created many friendships and bonds and helped keep the women in the mindset of staying focused on their goals.
And as the program drew to a close, final assessments were done to determine the top 3 women with the biggest transformations who also happened to win some awesome prizes! And here they are:
1st Place - Victoria Brunetto
Lost 3.9kg fat, gained 0.1kg lean mass, net weight loss of 3.8kg, 5.5% body fat loss, and 21cm total lost off her body
2nd Place - Karina Carrasco-Negue
Lost 3.6kg fat, gained 0.8kg lean mass, net weight loss of 2.8kg, 5.2% body fat loss, and 15.5cm total lost off her body
3rd Place - Jessica Thompson
Lost 2.5kg fat, gained 1kg lean mass, net weight loss of 1.5kg, 2.8% body fat loss, and 17cm total lost off her body

But given how proud I was of all of these incredible women, I decided to celebrate all of their achievements and successes by hosting a BBQ at my home. And in the spirit of cleaning eating and sticking to our goals, the ladies all created a healthy home-made dish to share with the group. So much food, and so many healthy eats - we all walked away with full bellies and full Tupperware containers for leftovers!
I look back fondly at this incredible journey which began more than 8 weeks ago. I knew this program was tough and that many would find it difficult to push their bodies to the max. I worried at the time that maybe it was too challenging, but what I witnessed with each passing week was truly remarkable. With my coaching and guidance, and with the encouragement from the group, these ladies pushed past their limits and carried on with gusto, never giving up even when everything in them told them to stop. They not only transformed their fitness and their bodies, they found courage, resilience, determination, and a perseverance that I believe will guide them in every aspect of their daily lives. They learned that healthy eating can be delicious, and that the road to a fitter body and healthier life doesn't need to be an all-or-nothing mentality. I wish them nothing but the best as we all move forward from here, and continue to make healthy eating, exercise, and healthy mindsets our daily, conscious lifestyle choices :)
